Beyond the association,
Heiwa is above all a human adventure
whose key objectives can be outlined as follows
MAKE TRAVEL AN ACT OF PEACE
Promote engaged, respectful, and responsible relationships so that every encounter becomes a vehicle for peace, compassionate curiosity, and mutual transformation.
FOSTER A GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP AWARENESS
By connecting schools, create a space for exchange between children. Encourage empathy by building bridges between cultures through dialogue on universal issues such as peace, conflict, the environment, and diversity.
GIVE CHILDREN AN ACTIVE ROLE IN SHAPING THE FUTURE
Create an artistic space, born from the children’s work, serving as a platform for debate and collective inspiration.
GENERATE A FOUNDATIONAL COLLECTIVE VOICE
Co-create with children a charter to inform the reflection of institutions.
Develop a practical tool for use in schools and organizations wishing to engage in a culture of peace.
IDENTIFY DIVIDES TO BETTER BUILD PEACE
Through dialogue, uncover and name the tensions behind conflicts :
discrimination, inequalities, religious divides, environmental, economic, or social challenges.
Reveal these issues to enable better analysis aimed at awareness and mediation for peace.
Travel as a Catalyst for Reflecting on Peace
Heiwa is founded on a strong conviction: when experienced with attention and openness, travel can become a concrete tool for change.
In a world marked by geopolitical, cultural, and climatic tensions, fostering direct exchanges between children from different cultures is a tangible way to nurture mutual understanding.
At each stage of the journey, the children we meet are invited to reflect on the concept of peace by taking part in a collective dialogue process. This approach helps dismantle stereotypes, combat cultural isolation, and promote a conscious, respectful, and engaged global citizenship.
Heiwa emphasizes the role of intercultural exchanges, youth participation, and the transmission of human values as levers to build a more peaceful world.
Children’s Participation at the Heart of the Project
Heiwa does not aim to deliver a fixed message about peace.
What matters here is to create a space where children can question, put words to their feelings, and share what moves or inspires them.
By involving them directly, we give them the role of active participants, not just observers.
Every encounter becomes an opportunity for expression, regardless of the form. What is essential is that each child feels legitimate in sharing their views about the world. This awakens civic awareness, fosters listening to others, and nurtures a sense of interdependence.
By creating a simple and supportive space for expression, Heiwa encourages active youth participation, promoting learning methods based on critical thinking, cooperation, and sensitivity to global issues.
This dynamic aims to stimulate dialogue and build bridges between generations. Children’s ideas circulate, inspire, and can influence adults, artists, and other children around the world.
Culture as a Common Language
Beyond words, culture provides fertile ground for understanding each other. Through artistic expression, family stories, and local traditions, children can share their worldview, their daily lives, their dreams, and their concerns.
Heiwa places these forms of expression at its core. The project collects and highlights these creations to serve as tools for intercultural exchange. An exhibition, a film, a travel journal, or a digital platform become open spaces for dialogue, where stories from one corner of the world resonate elsewhere.
This focus on cultural diversity promotes the recognition of living heritage, drawing on the creativity of youth and access to free expression to build lasting peace.
Heiwa aims to reveal the cultural uniqueness of children. By integrating this dimension into all its mediums, the project contributes to fostering a vision of peace based on diversity and respect.
Growing Up in Solidarity
One of Heiwa’s core pillars is to bring forth, through the. voices of children, an awareness of the connections that unite humans with each other and with their environment.
By listening to what they say about nature, injustices, conflicts, or acts of solidarity, the project highlights their perspective on the major challenges of our time.
The goal is not to teach them ready-made answers but to create an atmosphere of listening and transmission. By bringing together experiences from very different regions, Heiwa makes local realities visible, as well as shared aspirations: to live in a world that is fairer, more balanced, and more respectful of all life.
By documenting and making these voices visible, Heiwa helps circulate simple yet powerful ideas: that every gesture counts, that children are capable of carrying a vision of the world, and that this vision deserves to be heard, shared, and passed on.
