Heiwa is an association traveling across continents to meet the children of the world and gather their voices and dreams of peace.
Driven by a deep inner commitment, it strives to weave intercultural bonds based on respect, exchange, and kindness.
This commitment takes shape through several key initiatives :
“Hello children,
My name is Heiwa, and I am a dove.
I’ve come to see you because… I need help.
I’ve been given a task, but I don’t understand it. And that makes me very sad.
People say I’m the messenger of Peace — but I don’t know what that really means.
So I asked my animal friends: ‘What is Peace?’
The cat said,‘Isn’t it something you can eat?’
The parrot replied, ‘I think she’s a famous singer.’
And the ant whispered,‘I’m pretty sure it’s a country…’
Now I don’t know what to think.
And I don’t know where to look.
But I heard a rumor in the wind, a soft breath that said : ‘Ask the children.’
So I’ve sent you this letter, hoping you can help me.
Tell me, in your opinion… what is Peace? How can we find it?
I’m waiting for your stories, your ideas, your answers.
And I’ll be coming to see you soon to collect them — in person.
I’ll be joined by a family with two children, who, just like you, are trying to help me fulfill my dream.
Thank you for your help.
See you soon,
Heiwa”
2. A learning tool lightweight – but powerful !
Before our departure, we send a pedagogical kit to several schools in each country we travel through.
It includes Heiwa’s letter along with clear instructions for teachers to lead the activity.
We reach out to all types of schools without distinction : public, private, alternative, or specialized.
In doing so, we give a voice to those who are most sincere — and most often forgotten : the children.
3. Encounters and living stories
Throughout our journey, we meet with each group of children.
We collect their writings and capture their energy through audio and video — precious materials that will feed into the final exhibition.
We hope their simple and sincere testimonies will, in their own way, inspire reflection among adults and organizations committed to building a more just and peaceful future.
At the same time, we regularly share raw, immersive audio-visual clips on social media platforms (TikTok, YouTube, etc.), captured spontaneously behind the scenes of our journey.
These formats, somewhere between a travel log and a field report, create a living connection with our community, allowing everyone to follow along, feel, and travel with us.
Beyond the project itself, we believe it is essential to share the uniqueness of each country — to foster intercultural awareness by highlighting diverse perspectives and affirming otherness as a source of richness.
A MEANINGFUL FORM OF SHARING THROUGH
4 . AN EXHIBITION ACCESIBLE TO ALL
At the end of the journey,
we will organize an exhibition —
a world-narrative composed of fragments,
gathered and structured around a common format :
One school
One letter
One response
One photo
One video
IN THE DIGITAL AGE ,
WE ARE CONVERTING THE EXHIBITION INTO A
VIRTUAL REALITY FORMAT
TO MAKE IT ACCESSIBLE TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE.
Each country becomes a stop along the world-work,
Each classroom, a chapter in the journey,
Each contribution, a universal echo,
Each fragment, a testimony to peace.
Using the images, sounds, and encounters captured throughout the journey, we are creating a documentary that traces both our adventure and the key milestones of the Heiwa project.
This film will follow the thread of our encounters, weaving together the stories, gestures, and voices of people from a wide range of cultural, social, and geographical backgrounds.
Without seeking to compare or explain, this documentary will offer a sensitive perspective on the diverse environments in which the world’s children grow up. It will show how, despite sometimes striking contrasts, a question as simple as “What is peace?”can open the door to a shared language.
It will be an open-ended narrative — one that asks more than it answers.
At the end of the project, we will publish a multilingual book — vibrant in color and reflective of the cultures encountered and the visions of peace expressed around the world.
This book will not only serve as an extension of the exhibition; it will be a tool for transmission, designed for bookstore distribution, but also offered as a gift to each participating school as a gesture of thanks.
Each child will be able to find their own contribution within its pages — and discover those of others from across the globe.
Inside, a correspondence directory will be created using the addresses and contacts collected along the way.
The idea is simple : to build a lasting bridge between schools, encourage exchange, and allow children themselves to carry on this intercultural dialogue.
ALL PROFITS FROM THE EXHIBITION, THE SALE OF THE BOOK, THE DOCUMENTARY, AND OTHER FORMS OF DISTRIBUTION WILL BE DONATED TO ASSOCIATIONS OR Ngos WORKING FOR PEACE EDUCATION. IT IS A CLEAR, CONCRETE, AND TRANSPARENT WAY TO CARRY HEIWA’S MESSAGE FORWARD BY SUPPORTING COMMITTED ACTORS BEYOND OUR OWN JOURNEY.
AMONG THE CONTRIBUTIONS GATHERED THROUGHOUT THE JOURNEY, SPECIAL ATTENTION WILL BE GIVEN TO THE CHILDREN’S IDEAS.
FROM THEIR VOICES, WE HOPE TO SHAPE A CHARTER FOR PEACE.
THIS TEXT COULD BECOME A SHARED SYMBOL OF THE HEIWA PROJECT — ONE WE HOPE WILL CONTINUE TO TRAVEL AND GROW THROUGH FUTURE INITIATIVES.
Heiwa is grounded in a pedagogy that values
Sensitivity : Peace is expressed through emotions and the senses
Listening : Every child is heard, with no hierarchy
Cooperation : The project is collective, co-created
Diversité : All cultures and languages hold equal value
Respect : There are no right or wrong answers
Heiwa invites children to reflect, to feel, and to imagine, drawing on
Trust in children’s intelligence
The richness of collective dialogue
The power of art as a universal language
Each school becomes both a participant and a beneficiary.
It opens itself to the world while leaving a lasting mark in a shared story.
With Heiwa, we aim to contribute — humbly, yet resolutely — to the cause of peace.
Through the voices of children, we gather and share gems of life, beauty, and hope. We weave a tangible thread between cultures and breathe a wind of harmony into the world of tomorrow.
Heiwa is not a passing moment. It is a movement.
A breath that begins here… and nothing can stop it from spreading.
This project is designed to last, to adapt, and to spread. It carries the poetry of childhood, the strength of connection, and the discipline of a long-term vision.
